The city of Playa Vista can be defined as a project selected by former President Bill Clinton as one of the communities for the "Partnership for Advancing Technology in Housing". These Playa Vista Properties have been supervised by the U.S. Department of Energy’s "Building America" program.
Located south of Marina Del Rey, with Westchester and Playa Del Rey south of it, Playa Vista is 1,087 acres next to the Pacific Ocean. In the 1940's up until 1994 Howard Hughes owned large areas of this city and used the property for his aviation activities.
3, 246 new playa vista listings will be available in a variety of housing types. This has created and continues to create many new jobs for the locals in the surrounding areas. The housing in Playa Vista ranges from luxury condo's to affordable apartments. There are recreational amenities, parks, and an entertainment complex referred to as The Campus. Which include a new media and technology complex such as production facilities and sound stages all in development.
The most important part of the Playa Vista project is focused on restoring the Ballona Wetlands which will reinstate the habitat for endangered species in the area. Play Vista’s humanitarian efforts sponsor a program to help at-risk teens and adults find jobs in the area.
